Broadway’s adorably perky Kinky Boots star and Tony-nominated Annaleigh Ashford has paired with musical director and composer Will Van Dyke to record a single of his song “Another Time.” Set to be released on iTunes and wherever digital music is sold on January 14, the number will be featured in Ashford’s one-woman show Lost in the Stars at 54 Below on February 3.
Ashford, currently in Kinky Boots, was recently seen as Betty DiMello on Showtime's Masters of Sex. The Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner will return as a series regular in the show's second season. Ashford's other stage credits include Rent, Dogfight, Wicked and Legally Blonde. She has a lead role in the upcoming independent feature film Franny, starring Francis Fisher.
In addition to his work on Kinky Boots and Rent, Van Dyke served in the orchestra for The Addams Family, and is the composer of Pages (Cap 21), Winnie the Pooh, Kids, and The Girls I've Like Liked. His songs have been performed at venues all over the country including Joe's Pub and Lincoln Center. He has two albums Chasing The Day and Writing Kevin Taylor. With Matt Doyle, Van Dyke co-wrote and produced his albums Daylight and Constant. Upcoming works include Magnificent Climb (with Rick Elice).
In addition to writing music and lyrics, Van Dyke is featured on piano on the single. The track also features Michael Aarons (guitar), Steve Gilewski (bass), Sammy Merendino (drums), Philip Payton (violin/viola), and Allison Seidner (cello). Derik Lee mixed and mastered the recording.
